Reading the verification badge

Learn where verification badges appear, what the details mean, and what to do if a photo shows Unable to verify

Where you'll see it

  • Photopoint pages. Each photo shows its badge in the top left corner. See viewing photopoints.
  • Visit pages. Each photo in a visit shows its badge.
  • Exports. The CSV (All Photos) export has an Attestation column, and the Word photo report shows an Attestation line under each photo. Both say Verified or Unable to verify. See exporting photopoints.

Verified

Hover over the badge to see the details.

DetailWhat it means
DeviceThe device was confirmed genuine, backed by Google (Android) or Apple.
ImageThe photo hasn't been altered since it was captured.
CapturedThe date and time the photo was taken.
LocationHow far from the photopoint's location the photo was taken, where there is a location to compare with.
Captured byThe account that took the photo.

The details end with a note about editing. On a photopoint it says the data can't be edited after capture. On a visit it says any change to the data is detected and flagged automatically.

On some Android devices you may also see an Attestation note saying the device's certificate was due for renewal when the photo was taken. The photo is still Verified.

Unable to verify

Unable to verify means Covram couldn't complete the checks. It doesn't mean the photo is fake.

Hover over the badge to see a Reason. The reasons are technical, but they fall into two groups:

  • Covram couldn't confirm the device. For example, the device didn't provide the hardware confirmation Covram needs, or the confirmation was no longer valid.
  • The photo didn't match its signed record. The photo file differs from the one that was signed when it was taken.

If an important photo shows Unable to verify, contact Covram so we can look into it.
