Exporting

Exporting sites and visits

Learn how to export sites and the visits recorded at them as CSV, GeoJSON or a Word report

You can export several sites at once from the project's Sites page, or a single site from its own page.

Export several sites

  1. Sign in to the Covram Dashboard in your web browser using your laptop or desktop computer and your registered email and password.
  2. In the sidebar, open your project and click Sites.
  3. Tick the box beside each site you want to export. To select every site in the list, tick the box at the top of the column. You can use the Filter box to narrow the list first.
  4. Click the Export button at the bottom of the page and choose a format from the menu.

If no sites are ticked, Covram asks you to select some. When the export finishes your file downloads and the selection clears.

Export options

OptionWhat you getFile name
GeoJSON (Full Data)One point per site with its details and every visit recorded at it.Project_sites.geojson
GeoJSON (Map View)One point per site with only basic details: name, number, date created, last visit, last VAST rating, habitat type, themes and issues. A smaller file that is easier to map.Project_sites_map.geojson
CSV (Summary)One row per site with its name, themes, issues, area in hectares, date created, last visit date, latitude and longitude.Project_sites_summary.csv
CSV (Detailed)One row per site with everything stored about it, including the assessor's name and email.Project_sites_detailed.csv
CSV (All Visits)One row per visit across all the selected sites, with the site name, date, assessor, activity type, themes, issues and the results recorded in each activity.Project_all_visits.csv
Word DocumentA report with a section for each site and all of its visits, including photos.Project_sites_report.docx

In each file name, Project is your project's name with spaces replaced by underscores.

Deleted visits are left out of every export that lists visits.

The CSV (All Visits) file has a column for each result recorded across the selected visits, so a column is empty when that activity wasn't recorded at a visit.

The Word report

The report starts with the project name, the date it was generated and the number of sites. Each site then has its details, such as its coordinates, themes, issues and monitoring indicators, followed by every visit from oldest to newest. Each visit lists what was recorded and shows its photos.

Export one site

  1. Open the site's view page. See viewing sites.
  2. In the Visits panel, click Export and choose a format.

Tips

  • To compare sites in a spreadsheet, export CSV (Summary). To analyse what was recorded, export CSV (All Visits).
  • For a report to share, choose Word Document. Reports with many sites and photos take longer, so select only the sites you need.
