Exporting data
You can export the data you have collected from the Covram Dashboard to use in spreadsheets, GIS software or reports. Exports are built in your web browser, so there is nothing to install.
Where to export
| To export | Go to | Formats |
|---|---|---|
| Sites, and the visits recorded at them | The project's Sites page | CSV, GeoJSON, Word |
| One site and its visits | The site's view page | CSV, Word |
| Photopoints and their photos | The project's Photopoints page | CSV, GeoJSON, Word |
| Recent visits, and charts | The Analytics page | CSV, PNG image |
Choosing a format
- CSV opens in Excel and other spreadsheet programs. Use it to filter, sort or analyse your data. CSV files do not contain photos.
- GeoJSON opens in GIS software such as QGIS and ArcGIS. Each site or photopoint is a point on the map, with its details attached. Use it to map or analyse your data alongside other layers.
- Word Document is a report you can read, edit and share. It includes photos, so it suits reporting to landholders, funders and regulators.
- PNG image is a picture of a chart from the Analytics page, ready to paste into a report or presentation.
Large exports
Exports are prepared in your browser, so large ones can take a while, especially Word reports with many photos. A progress message stays on screen while a Word report is prepared, showing what Covram is doing, such as Adding photo 12 of 40. You can move to another page in the Covram Dashboard while it works, but don't close or reload the browser tab until the download starts.
Export from Analytics
The Analytics page has two kinds of export.
Recent visits (CSV). In the Recent Visits panel, click Export to download the visits listed. To export only some visits, tick them first. The file includes the visit's project, site, date, themes and issues, and key results such as the VAST rating, vegetation condition score, pest and weed details and water quality readings. The file is named analytics_recent_visits followed by the date, or analytics_recent_visits_selected if you ticked visits.
Charts (PNG). Each chart has an Export button that downloads the chart as an image with its title. The Export button is turned off until the chart has data to show.
The visits and charts reflect the project, theme and issue filters you have chosen, so adjust the filters before you export.
