Tracked Locations

Managing tracks

Learn how to see, edit, export and delete the tracked locations in a project in the Covram Dashboard

The Covram Dashboard lists every track in a project, and lets you edit, export and delete them. To record a track, see recording a track.

See your tracks

Tracks are drawn on the project map in the Covram Dashboard and the Covram Field App. New tracks are blue unless you change the colour.

To see a list of them in the Covram Dashboard:

  1. Sign in to the Covram Dashboard in your web browser using your laptop or desktop computer.
  2. In the sidebar, open your project, then click Tracked Locations.

The list shows these columns:

ColumnWhat it shows
LabelThe name you gave the track, or — if you didn't give it one.
CreatedWhen the track was saved.
UserThe person who recorded it. This shows their name, or their email address if they have no name.
DurationHow long the track took, for example 12m 30s.
Distance (m)The length of the track in metres.

The list also includes tracks made with the Road and Track activity. A track you draw by hand has no duration.

Click a column heading to sort by it. To find a track, type in the Filter... box above the list.

Change a track

Each row has three buttons:

  • Center on map opens the project map zoomed in on the track.
  • Edit details lets you change the Label and the Track color. Click Save when you are done.
  • Delete tracked location removes the track from the project. You will be asked to confirm, and it can't be undone.

Export tracks

  1. Tick the tracks you want in the list.
  2. Click Export as Layer.

Covram downloads a GeoJSON file named after your project, ending _tracked_locations.geojson. Each track is a line, with its label, date, duration and distance attached. You can open the file in GIS software such as QGIS or ArcGIS.

Working offline

When you download a project for offline use, its tracks are downloaded with it.
