Tracked Locations

Recording a track

Learn what a tracked location is and how to record a track of where you walked or drove with the Covram Field App

A tracked location, or track, is a line on the map showing the route you took. Use one to log a walk through a site, or the length of a track you are maintaining. Tracks are saved to the project, so everyone on the project can see them.

Record a track

  1. In the Covram Field App, open your project and go to the map.
  2. Tap Add, then Track Location.
  3. Walk or drive your route. A panel shows Tracking Location, with the time and distance so far.
  4. When you have finished, tap Stop Tracking.
  5. Check the distance, duration and number of points in the Save Track window. If you like, enter a label, such as Morning survey.
  6. Tap Save, or tap Discard to throw the track away.

You can't leave the map while a track is being recorded. If you try, the Covram Field App asks you to stop tracking first.

You can still add a photopoint or an activity while a track is recording. Tap Add, then Photopoint or Activity. The track keeps recording until you tap Stop Tracking.

Change a track in the Covram Field App

Tap a track on the map to see its details, then tap Edit. You can choose Edit label, Edit color or Edit track, which changes the shape of the track.

To see all of a project's tracks together, or to export or delete them, see managing tracks.
