Reading the log
Open the Audit Log card on a site, visit or photopoint. The newest change is at the top.
An entry
Each entry has an icon, a sentence, a time and, for changes to fields, a row of grey labels.
- The sentence says who made the change and what they did, for example
someone@example.com updated 3 fields. The kinds of change are listed in what the audit log records. - The time is shown in your computer's date and time format.
- The grey labels are the fields that changed.
Changes made together
When the same person makes several changes within a few seconds, the log shows them as one entry. For example, adding a photo and changing a photopoint's tags can read added a new photo and updated 2 fields.
An entry that says updated this record was saved without changing any of the fields the log tracks.
If a photo is rotated more than once, each rotation is counted. An entry can read rotated 2 photos, or, for older entries that don't say which photo, rotated photos (3 rotations).
Who made the change
The log shows the email address of the person who made the change. For visits it can show the assessor's name if no email address was recorded.
For sites, the person isn't always recorded, because most ways of editing a site don't save who made the edit. In that case the entry reads Unknown, for example Unknown updated 2 fields. The time and the fields that changed are still correct.
The grey labels
The labels show the name of each field as it is stored, and these are not always the same as the words on screen. For example, a photopoint's name is label. For a field in a visit's form, the label names the form and then the field, such as formData.PestControl.pestArea.
The labels tell you which fields were changed. They don't show the old or new value.
