Getting Started
Searching
Learn how to find a project, site or photopoint quickly using search in the Covram Dashboard
Search takes you straight to a project, site or photopoint without browsing through your projects. It is in the Covram Dashboard.
Open search
- Sign in to the Covram Dashboard in your web browser using your laptop or desktop computer.
- Click
Search...at the top of the sidebar. If the sidebar is collapsed, click the search icon.
You can also press Ctrl + K on Windows or Linux, or Cmd + K on a Mac, from any page in the Covram Dashboard.
What you can search for
Start typing. Results appear in groups:
| Group | What it finds |
|---|---|
| Go to | Pages of the Covram Dashboard, such as Analytics, Projects and each of your Settings pages. |
| Projects | Projects, by their name. A project opens on its map. |
| Sites | Sites, by their name. Each result shows the project it belongs to. |
| Photopoints | Photopoints, by their label or any of their tags. Each result shows the project and the date it was taken, so you can tell apart photopoints that share a label. If a tag matched your search, the result shows it. |
Search doesn't look inside visits or activities, notes, species names or photos. It doesn't search a site's number either.
With nothing typed, search lists your pages and projects so you have somewhere to go.
How matching works
- Type any part of a name. Capital letters and accents don't matter, so
yangafindsYanga. - Type more than one word and every word has to match. Results that match best, such as an exact name or a name that starts with what you typed, come first.
- Naming the project helps narrow things down. Typing a project's name together with a site's name, such as
yanga river, finds the site calledRiverin theYangaproject. Typing only the project's name lists the project, and doesn't list everything inside it. - Each group shows up to 12 results. If the one you want isn't there, type more of its name.
Open a result
Click a result, or use the arrow keys and press Enter. A project opens on its map, a site opens its site page and a photopoint opens its photopoint page.
Things to know
- Projects you have hidden in
Settings>Projects, and projects that have been deleted, aren't searched. To find something in a hidden project, show the project again first. See hiding and ordering projects. - Search loads your sites and photopoints the first time you open it, so give it a moment if you have a lot of data. It loads them again when you reopen it after a few minutes.
- If a site or photopoint you have just added doesn't appear, close search and open it again.
- If search can't load your data, a message says
Unable to search sites and photopoints. Close search and reopen it to try again. - Search is in the Covram Dashboard only. It isn't in the Covram Field App.
