Vegetation scoring
Learn how condition scores, vegetation quality ratings and VAST ratings are calculated
When you complete a vegetation assessment, Covram calculates three results:
- Condition score: the total points from your answers.
- Vegetation quality rating: a rating from Low to Very High, based on the score.
- VAST rating: the vegetation's state, from Residual or Modified A to Replaced, based on the score.
What is scored
The original (pre-clearing) habitat type determines which questions count towards the score.
| Question | Woodland/Forest | Shrubland | Grassland and Derived Grassland |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vegetation structure | Yes | Yes | No |
| Large trees (mature hollow bearing trees) | Yes | No | No |
| Non-indigenous woody weeds and vines | Yes | Yes | No |
| Weediness (exotic ground cover) | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Nativeness (native ground cover) | Yes | Yes | Yes |
